This is a huge annoucement I am about to make. I have not taken this lightly in any way. It is the result of 20 plus years of frustration that I am doing this publicly and for all to read. I am finally and permanently disolving my loyalty to the Detroit Lions. You heard it, it's over, done, finished...never again will I watch, read or likewise root for the Lions.
I have been giving them chance after chance after chance. I have finally had enough. I have said things similar before, but this time it's an oath before all. I have no choice, it's just too much for me to handle anymore, week after week of stupid bonehead plays and lost leads have finally beaten me down into submission. It's just not worth the effort to hope any more.
So who will I root for now? Thats a good question...I hate the Bears, Packers and Vikings. I could not root for the Browns, Steelers of Cowboys. I am a little into Cincinnati, but not enough. So who does that leave that is at least somewhat local and I might have ties to?
I think maybe Indy is my team. Not just cause they are good, but cause I like Tony Dungy a lot and I went to college in Indiana for 4 years so it's almost like a second home. Yep, I think I am going to root for Indy. They will probably never have my heart like the Lions did, but maybe that's OK, that way they will never break my heart Sunday after Sunday like Detroit has.
Do I reserve the right to jump back on the Lions bandwagon if they would ever turn into a winner...of course I do...but I think the chances of that are pretty slim. So GO INDY.

I can see cheering for Indy if for no other reason than our college years.
If my beloved Cowboys went belly up I would have to cheer for the Broncos.
I forget. Who beat the Colts last year in the playoffs? Oh yeah it was my Steelers. And you know I almost jumped off their bandwagon during the bubby brister/cliff stout years. But by staying loyal thru the bad years, last year's win was much sweeter. The hard part with the lions is that they don't seem to care that they are that bad. So it is hard to care more about the team than the owners do.
Hey there have been no worse years of football fandom than the Chargers of 84-2004. With three decent years between, including a SB, we were destined to give up next years 1st choice in the draft for a 3rd round pick this year. The lions have been good compared to the Chargers prior to 2004.
