Fantasy Baseball

I have always loved baseball. I can't play it very well, but it is such a unique game, and completely American, that you can't help but love it.

I used to collect baseball cards, in fact, I still have a cedar chest FULL of them, thousands. Well, collecting baseball cards is not such a lure anymore to me, but something has taken it's place. I am totally addicted to fantasy sports, and fantasy baseball is by far my favorite.

Myself, Jeff Cobb, Jon Wilmot, Craig Olmsted, Jason Feltz and some others have been doing it for years now. It is a very cool way to keep in touch with people you would not normally talk to much.

This year I find myself in several leagues. Unlike some other fantasy sports like football, baseball is much more time consuming. If you want to be successful, you MUST check your lineup about every other day. Not to mention scouring the waiver wire all the time for the latest up and coming player or hot hitter.

I think the appeal of fantasy baseball is not only to win, keep in touch with friends, etc. But for me, I love stats, I love to read the latest box scores and try to interpret what it means, to predict when a player is going to get hot, when he is going to slump and when to unload him on someone else. It's a complete mind game.

Let's play ball boys....!!

I see you are off to a 10-0 start over CJ's crappy team. Don't get too overconfident.
