Tonight the Kuipers were invited to one of me oldest friends home for supper. Chris Nyhuis has been one of best friends since high school at ol Hamilton High. Chris, myself and a couple of other guys from school and church used to hang out a lot. This was my other group of friends.
I was kind of a "rover" I had 2 groups of friends that I hung out with, the two groups were equally important to me, however, these two groups did not hang out together, so I had to "rove" between the two. The trend carried on into college as well. I had a couple of different groups of friends there as well. It was all kind of strange, but it worked for me, and I had twice as many friends.
Anyway, tonight we went to Chris's home for dinner. It had been a while since we had hung out, but as always, it was just as if we had seen each other last week. It was nice to see Chris and his family again. I could go on for hours about all the good times we had.
Anyway, as an added surprise, Chris told me that one of our other old friends was in town from Oklahoma. Mike Fackler....my oh my, you have never met a funnier guy in all your life. Mike is now a youth pastor, which if you know Mike, fits him to a tee.
If you also know Mike and some of the fun we used top have, you would think, Mike? a Youth Pastor!!! We never got in any serious trouble, but the stuff we used to do was so much fun, and sometimes just a little crazy.
Mike and his lovely wife and cute son were a bonus for an already great time at Chris's house. We talked about old times all night, it was so great. I wish we all lived closer together, but alas, life goes on and times change. It's true that you can never go "home again", but you can sure remember the good times. And anytime Mike and Chris were involved, you can be sure that there were plenty. I would not change a moment of this part of life, and I am so thankful that God gave me such good friends to share those times with me.
